1st National Inter-High School Moot Court Competition Final

The final round of the 1st National Inter-High School Moot Court Competition, initiated by Özyeğin University Faculty of Law with the aim of becoming a traditional event, was held online on Saturday, March 22, 2025, under the theme “A Young Touch to the Judicial Process.”
It was truly inspiring and meaningful to be in the presence of our future colleagues and passionate students who are devoted to law. Within the scope of this competition, which aimed to enhance understanding of the concepts of “law” and “justice,” students remained faithful to the fictional case scenario, conducted research by visiting courthouses, prepared their cases in consideration of both legal and physical aspects, and reflected all these elements in the digital content they created. These students became a source of light and inspiration for all of us. Their level of awareness, even at the high school level, filled us with excitement and joy.
We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to all members of the Competition Committee, especially Asst. Prof. Dr. Elif Altınok Çalışkan, who played a key role in organizing the event, and to the esteemed jury members who contributed to the evaluation process: Asst. Prof. Dr. Elif Altınok Çalışkan, Asst. Prof. Dr. Aras Türay, Asst. Prof. Dr. Levent Özgüç, Attorney Murat Yılmaz, and Chief Public Prosecutor of Çatalca, Mr. Yunus Tunç.

The high schools and teams that ranked in the competition are as follows:
1. The team competing under Group II, from Cengiz Aytmatov Social Sciences High School in Urla, İzmir — comprised of Nisanur Şanlı, Karya Gökalp, Damla Gökalp, Birsen Tuana Aksoy, and Ayşe Beyza Öktem — was awarded first place.
2. The team competing under Group VI, from Fatih Anatolian High School in Yunusemre, Manisa — consisting of Beray Özlen Akçaman, Irmak Demir, Şimal Yurga, İbrahim Tuna Köse, and Kaan Ege Gülşen — achieved second place.
3. The team competing under Group III, also from Cengiz Aytmatov Social Sciences High School in Urla, İzmir — made up of Barış Karakaş, Yağmur Özdemir, Gamze Ateşci, Oktay Dalkıran, and İsmail Efe Tosun — was awarded third place.
We wholeheartedly congratulate all students who achieved rankings, as well as their dedicated teachers who shared in their excitement throughout the process.
On the other hand, although competitions by their very nature require a ranking due to award distribution, we are fully aware of the valuable contributions made by all participating high schools, regardless of their final placement. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to those schools as well, for their keen interest and devoted efforts.
Moreover, we would like to emphasize that we are eagerly looking forward to seeing these students return to future editions of our competition, armed with the valuable experience they have gained. The determination, effort, and awareness demonstrated by each high school participant have provided great motivation for us to continue organizing similar initiatives.
Becoming future lawyers and standing up for justice gives us hope for tomorrow. With this hope in our hearts, we have already begun preparations for the 2nd National Inter-High School Moot Court Competition.

Join us in keeping the excitement alive!

Kind Regards,
Faculty of Law
